Atlanta does not have an adequate supply of affordable housing .
Our long-standing residents who are on fixed or limited incomes are being taxed out of their homes. Even our city employees and first responders find it difficult to live in their own communities. As District 5's City Council representative Mandy will:
Fight for a more proactive solution of tax protection for our longstanding residents instead of seeing them pushed out of their homes.
Work to increase the amount of permanently affordable units. We desperately need 25,000 units or more to keep up with our growing city’s demand.
Make the city use federal funds to repair and weatherize seniors' homes instead of giving them back due to poor program management.
We need to keep our neighbors in their neighborhoods and have enough affordable housing for our growing population. Without these things, the poverty line will continue to get hard to break through and crime rates will continue to rise. Mandy is tired of relying on triage and band-aid solutions. Let's fix the underlying issues together.
