We need to act now to avoid real infrastructure and human problems.
With the effects of climate change becoming more and more substantial we need to act now to avoid real infrastructure and human problems. The temperatures are rising and increasing the Urban Heat Island Effect. Rainfall is at an all-time high. Atlanta will be in peril if we do not allocate more budget to offset what climate change is bringing with it. As District 5's City Council representative Mandy will:
Create more green infrastructure. This will help to absorb the increase in rainfall as well as absorb solar energy.
Make homes more energy efficient so we can be safe and comfortable in our homes as temperatures rise.
Give individual residents better access to renewable energy sources for their homes. This is a must to decrease our greenhouse gas emissions.
When we plan ahead for what climate change is bringing we prevent costly repairs to our city’s already failing infrastructure. Our aging communities are not prepared for the rising temperature and humidity. We have neighbors that will not be able to cope and we will need to implement multiple solutions to move into the future.
